*Blows off dust* Im back again!
Anyway, I was wondering how to get work in a promotion as a photographer? Is it as simple as just asking? Or is there more to it than that?
I've had many years of photography experience, none professionally. I did have a brief moment working for NWA-Missouri as a photographer but that work was horrible as I didn't have a professional camera at the time and I got that by chance.

Jason, Usually if you ask the promoter and explain to him that your trying to "build your portfolio" and maybe let him know that you've got pro equipment. Most times, if the promoter doesn't have a pro shooting his show, he'll let you if you don't act like a big mark about the whole thing. Also, I'd suggest that if you are given access to the boys to shoot photos for them, don't charge them for digital copies of the photos but make sure that you get a photo credit if they use them for 8x10's. I know as a worker that it really pisses me off when you've got some guy at ringside taking pictures of you and then he turns around and tries to charge me for a digital copy of the picture. Usually when that happens, the next match I'm in, I purposely take a bump out of the ring onto him and break his friggin camera. It might make me a jerk but why should he be able to make a profit off of my hard work and then try to charge me for a picture of myself. I understand charging if the photo is on paper because it cost him to have it developed and put on paper but if the pics are digital, it doesn't cost him a dime to email them to me. Anyways, that's my thoughts on the whole deal. If you present yourself professionally to the promoter, he'll usually let you shoot ringside pics and probably comp you to the show if you give him copies of the photos. Dan btw: just in case anyone is keeping track. 16 years in the business and 12 cameras destroyed in the process.

Thank you for the words of wisdom, I'll keep it in mind.
I only act markish if I am in the crowd, before/after shows, and during intermission. When I worked for NWA-Missouri, I didnt do any of the mentioned until the night was over, but I kept it mostly down to "Good work out there guys, thanks for not killin' me!", which usually got a response of "Theres always the next show."

I walked in to the event sight and i asked the owner of the fed if it was ok to shoot pics for there shows.
i have since then on average took around 150-300 pictures a show of the digitals.
i have around 3000-5000 pictures in my collection of 3 different federations respective pictures
i give the boys there pics if they ask for them and trade them for a signed photo or a photo credit if its used in there promotional works.
