As the title said - what's the best piece of advice you ever received either as a promoter, wrestler or just in general life?

Wrestling- "The proof of true desire is pursuit. If you say you want to be a wrestler, but you don't get yourself in shape, show up for lessons, and have a good attitude; Then youd don't really want to be a wrestler."
"Never stop learning or trying new things. If you're not getting better, you're getting worse."
In general- "Its not about how many times you fall. If you've gotten back up one more time then you've fallen down in life, you're a winner."
"Preperation time is never wasted time."

If you EVER stop learning in this sport, get out.
Never let the inmates run the asylum.
Remember those that came before you and gave you the opportunity you have now, be thankful.
The audience is your boss. If they dont like your work, you dont get paid.
Earn your spot among the boys, don't expect it to be given to you.
Eat, Sleep, Breathe this business. It will keep you alive.

The best advice I ever received was off a fellow promoter:
'Dont take their(wrestlers) shit. If they smell weakness they'll walk all over you'

The best advice I received when I first got into the business was from Louie Spicolli..... "When you get into the locker room introduce yourself to all the boys then sit down, shut up, listen, and learn." As a promoter - If one of the boys refuses to do the job, pay him but don't let him wrestle and tell him politely but matter of factly "Thanks for coming. Here's your payday I promised, and I call you when I want to use you but it won't be for quite a while." I've had to do that once and it worked well. I did it in front of the other boys and never had a problem again with any of the boys not doing the job. Dirty Dan Hanson www.myspace.com/dirtydanhanson

For Wrestling the best advice I got was from Terry Funk when he said "Sell it like a bitch and be ready to put anybody over" For promoting it was not really advice but more of a comment from Tony Atlas "The man with the ring has all the power to promote"

"Physically, you push yourself harder, mentally you push yourself harder. As you push yourself through more barriers, you realise that there are so many more things that you can do."
and
"When you think you're at your best, and you can't get any better, that's the time to retire."
both quoted from Chris Jericho

I asked the one and only Bret Hart at a show once if he had any advice for someone getting into the business, and he said 'don't let anyone hurt you'

I was waiting to get CM Punk's autograph, and told him, I was interested in becoming a wrestler. He told me "Never be afraid to be yourself in the ring, and show people why you love being a wrestler."

Best advice I've ever receieved? As a worker, a couple of good ones...
1. Go hard, or Go home
2. Shut up, keep your eyes open, and always listen, in this business, you'll always be a student, even when you're a veteran.
3. Never second-guess yourself, it always leads to failure.
And in life? Live everyday like it's your last, but, be humble, and you'll reach harmony...

A friend of mine recently decided to build a ring for fun and maybe hold some charity shows, a lot of my mates laughed at the idea but I encouraged him and now we've materials ordered and will be starting construction very soon!
